ABOUT ME
I have always had an interest in the beauty industry, when I was growing up I used to use varnishes, to try out new colours or create the French manicure look. I had a Barbie head that I used to plait her hair and do her make-up and loved it. Since then, my fascination and ambition have grown.
When I left school I decided I wanted to become a part of the beauty sector, so I took a two year course in Hairdressing and gained my NVQ levels 1 and 2. To be honest I didn’t enjoy the course as much as I’d hoped and although I had passed I didn’t feel confident enough for it to be a career. I did apply for jobs in local salons, but I think they could tell I didn’t have the right passion for it.
During the next few months I was a bit disheartened but was determined I would find the path for me so was constantly searching the internet, looking in the local job centre and in all the new salons that opened, during these months of investigation I was lucky enough to stumble upon a website that changed my life. It was here that I found my passion for nails and through the professional guidance and advice of the qualified technicians on here I found Creative Nail Design, a world leader in enhancement technology and natural nail care.
In November 2004 I attended my first professional nail course with Creative to learn how to enhance nails using liquid and powder (more commonly known as acrylic), and I absolutely loved it! This type of learning was what I had been looking for, I was interested in every bit of information they told me and every skill they showed me. I was lucky enough to be taught by Marco Pagliuca (Nail Technician of the Year 2004), owner of Marco Benito (Salon of the Year 2004) in Birmingham. I passed my foundation course with flying colours and couldn’t wait to get started on all my friends and family, followed by paying clients.
It wasn’t long before I wanted to learn something new, I have such a passion for this industry now that I’m constantly striving to learn something new and gain more skills. I soon booked up to do my Spa course, with Creative again, in which I learnt manicures and pedicures.
With my clients wanting more than the usual pink and white nail enhancements, I have now started experimenting with coloured powders, crushed shells and glitters, and have produced some amazing designs. You will find examples of this type of work in the gallery.
At the moment I am continueing to perfect my skills and am building up my client base from my home-based salon, devoting my time to your pleasure. It was set up in January 2006 and I am very proud of it, all treatments are completely private and discreet in a relaxed atmosphere. I have found that my clients love coming to me and enjoy a couple of hours away from the stresses and strains of their everyday lives.
Enjoy looking around the site, and I look forward to seeing you soon...
